The Making of 1/7 Kanu Uncho DVD Jacket Edition

  Day 1 (Pinning) > Day 2 (Test Fit) > Day 3 (Putty) > Day 4 (Priming) > Day 5 (Painting) > Day 6 (Touch-Up)

Disclaimer: The following are the in progress shots and methods that I took to get 1/7 Kanu Uncho DVD Jacket Edition garage kit completed. Note that this is my third garage kit and did lots of screw up here. Only use this as a reference at your own risk.

Day 1 (Pinning)

Counting Parts
Construction started with counting all the resin parts and make sure it is tally with parts shown in your instruction sheet. Normally, a photo will be provided as a painting guide.

I consider counting my parts an important step before building and should be done as early as when you received your kit. It will be a tragedy if I found out that there is a missing part halfway.

Pinning
Pinning is done by drilling using a 1/16 drill bit and then insert brass rods into the hole. The depth is marked and measured to cut an appropriate length of rod. Since this her bottom is so high up in the air, I am using 2 rods and drill through for added strength.

Fitting
When she is pinned, test fitting is done here to identified gaps. Unlike Rei Ayanami Race Queen, the fitting for this kit is quite good and only small gaps are visible. Seam lines are spotted here and sanded in the process.

Note that the red arrows are the identified gaps that need to be puttied. Seem like the position on both her arms is slightly out and there is a big gap on her back. Her panty does not fit perfectly to her bottom. As the main highlight of this kit, filling these gaps here is a must.
