Disclaimer: The following are the in progress shots and methods that I took to get 1/7 Kanu Uncho DVD Jacket Edition garage kit completed. Note that this is my third garage kit and did lots of screw up here. Only use this as a reference at your own risk. Day 3 (Putty) I am using Tamiya Epoxy Putty here as it is the only material I have on hand. The stick in the middle is a lip balm applied to one part of the resin while I puttied the other. This is to prevent both parts glued together by the epoxy putty. A craft knife is use to cut off the excess and shaping it. Note that using a craft knife on putty will blunt the blade.
The photos show the result of gaps that are puttied after the excess is cut and shaped. I have to puttied it to my best effort. This owe to Epoxy Putty is hard to sand when it harden. Over-sanding might happen if I do not do a good job here. Normally, I will use a craft knife to slice off the over puttied location and then sand.
Note that her back is puttied with a small amount to fill the gaps.
Although, her neck colar is not visible to the naked eye, the big gap is puttied for painting. You never know what hideous thing your camera will reveal.
Hair line is puttied. With my previous experience with Rei Ayanami, I am pinning the head to the hair before puttying. This is to ensure a perfect putty work does not run off.
The inner portion of her hair is puttied. This is not necessary but I never know what my camera will reveal. I am trying to be on the safe side here.
Although the arms gaps is hidden by her shoulder, I am putting some putty here to slightly adjust the arms to be closer together.
Did one more round of test fitting and sanding off rough spot if required. Her tiny hair piece is glued for painting and it is a mess here working with superglue. Getting a correct position is not easy. I want the lower piece of hair to be as close as possible to the right hand while it wll not block the arm when it is taken off for painting.
Mixing Flesh Tone The far left is the mixed flesh tone (F) and follow by highlight (H) and then shadow (S). The two bottle on the right is white and flesh base, main ingredient in mixing the flesh tone. A little bit of red is also used here.
