The Making of 1/6 Mia Alice

Groundwork > Painting > Custom Base

Disclaimer: The following are the work in progress shots and technique that I took to get 1/6 Mia Alice resin kit built. Note that this is my trial by error method to build a resin kit and might not be the best way. Only use this as a reference at your own risk.

Painting her hair is simple. First, black is sprayed on deep recess and shadow area. Next, I sprayed Orange Yellow for highlights.

Lastly, I mixed a very thin paint, Earth, and mist that on top of her hair. The color contrast is adjusted by the number of layers of Earth misted onto it.

Her shoes and body suit is suppose to be a very light whitish blue. Instead of mixing the color, I am making use of color gradation to make the suit blue.

First, Sky Blue is sprayed as shadow. Next, I misted white on top. When the paint dry, it will give the illusion that the suit is in very light blue.

Mia Alice is sculpted in a anime like instead of looking realistic thus I am mixing a redder tone of flesh for her skin color. Flesh is applied to her face, arms and legs.

Although the leg is entirely wrapped in stocking, flesh is applied to it anyway. The paint that I use for stocking is a mixture of Clear and Wood Brown.

Shadow and highlight are applied but the contrast is much higher that those on her arms. This is for retaining the shading when the clear mixture is layered in top.

The black lining is a tedious. I am using oil paint and it is messy and in no time, the black oil is all over the place.

I need to paint the black lines by sections then coated it with a layer of clear. Wait for it to dry then paint the next section and then coat and then paint.

The fine black line at the back is drawn using Gundam marker.

The eyes are masked with masking liquid before painted with flesh.

This kit does not have an eye brow sculpted. I am drawing her entire face using Gundam Marker. Gundam Marker could rubbed off and a layer of clear is sprayed onto of it to protect the ink. Also note on how the flesh color turn yellow when dried.
