The Making of 1/6 Ryofu Housen

Groundwork > Painting > Custom Base

Disclaimer: The following are the work in progress shots and technique that I took to get 1/6 Ryoufu Housen resin kit built. Note that this is my trial by error method to build a resin kit and might not be the best way. Only use this as a reference at your own risk.

Construction started with counting all the resin parts and make sure it is tally with parts shown in your instruction sheet. A photo provided as a painting guide. It is disappointing that I got a prime figure in gray instead of a completed figure in color for reference.

The casting is good. Flash and mold lines are hardly found. The surface has no pin holes spotted anywhere.

There are 21 pieces altogether but then it is not hard to build.

The flash excess are removed and she is sent to a bath. I am using liquid detergent and water.
This kit has good fitting since it is employing the cube socket connector. No pinning is required too.

Some surface irregularities is spotted. I use melted gray putty to fix it.

The figure is test fitted and gaps are to be spotted.
The tiny hair pieces is puttied and glue to the main hair piece.
Some putty is used to fill the gaps.
The bottom is puttied to make it fuller and smoother. ^-^
The hair line at the back of the neck and back portion of her hair is puttied. This is to minimized gaps during final assembly.
The excess on the upper abdomen piece is located at the back of her neck. The panel lines are gone after sanding and I have to use a compass to scribe back those lines.
Shoulders and hips are puttied for fitting.
Most leg parts need not to be puttied except for the expose left thigh.
The kit is washed again and then prime with Mr. Resin Surfacer. All parts are inspected for defects and then repaired before it can be painted.
