I hate to admit that what my friend said is
true, where I will be hook with metal die-cast
figure eventually. "Aile Strike" Gundam is so far my
favorite mech on the SEED series and it is metal. I
could not help but to dish out my hard earn cash for
this and it worth every penny of it.
Right out of the box, the first thing you will notice is its weight even though the size of this mech is comparatively small. Standing at 18cm, it weighs at an impressive 12 - 14 oz with the armor pieces and accessories being omitted in its measurement.
You start with a naked metal skeleton, which resemble the gunpla "action frame" system from the Master Grade G-Gundam series. From there you snap on the plastic armor. The armor pieces is placed in a friendly position, where snapping on the armor does not tax too much of our brainpower. The armor fit perfectly nice and it stay on its place. My only complain is that the metal piece that connects the lower torso and the skirt armor is loose and at oft time fall off during posing. Beside that, everything is superb.
Proportion is good but details are a bit bland. I will like to see some markings on the armor as in the GFF series of Gundam merchandise.
It is a common knowledge that metal die-cast does not pose well owing to the friction on its joints. Bandai did a very good job on reusing the "action frame" system. In the MG model, you get plastic and in this figure, you get metal. Without the armor snap on, you can pose this figure in any martial art stance you can imagine. However, there is an understandable toll to its range of movement when the armor is on that should not reduce your “wow” factor.
I would strongly recommend this to all Gundam SEED fans.
