Comment
As expected from a Play Arts figure, Aerith comes with a good 22 points of articulations. The good point
here is the articulations are impressive on her arms, shoulders and a pretty standard ball jointed head.
On the other hand, the range of movement at her lower abdomen, specifically her waist and leg, are somewhat ranging from none to limited owing to the nature of her "long dress" costume. I am expecting her leg will be completely block off by her dress but Kotobukiya provide some slack by implementing a soft PVC material for her dress. This provides a limited range of movement on her lower abdomen.
I will give a 10 for the paint job if this figure is released 5 years ago. It comes with some shading on her blouse and her hair but there is no flesh toning. While there is nothing wrong with the paint, I do believe Kotobukiya could strive to be better. With the current manufacturing technology of PVC figures, we have seen PVC and action figures alike comes with much better paint application. The crowd had ditched the "shinny skin" and monotone since 2006 and this Kotobukiya is still pushing out figure painted with age old technique.
Please refer to Max Factory's Figma series for a good example. I might be asking too much from a mid-size action figure but then it is just norm for a consumer expecting something better.
As for the head sculpting, Aerith is hitting the spot. She comes with a pleasant face and does not look weird from any angle.
Conclusion
This is a very pleasant action figure for Final Fantasy VII fans comes with very good articulations and
sculpting. If Kotobukiya provides a more advance paint application, I might double this as a "Moveable" PVC
figure.
