Story
Cancer Deathmask is a Gold Saint with an evil personality who serves Ares willingly for as long as he is able to roam free to kill people. He then decorates his Cancer palace with his numerous conquered souls in a form of mask thus earning his name. He was first send by Ares to retrieve Roshi's Libra Cloth by force but stopped by the combine action of Dragon Shiryu and Aries Mu. He later guards his Cancer palace during the re-taking of Sanctuary. During his duel with Shiryu, he shows his ultimate attack that create a death wave with the ability to transport both himself and any opponent to Hades, either in spirit or in body. His Cancer Gold Cloth then no longer tolerates his sinful deed. The cloth abandons him and allows Shiryu to defeat him in Hades.

Packaging
Cancer Deathmask is the seventh release of Gold Saint and the 14th in Saint Cloth Myth series and comes packaged in the standard yellow ‘book box’. The box opens in the middle to reveal two windowed boxes; in one side is a well-articulated figure of Deathmask along with some of his armor parts whereas the other is the rest of his Cancer Object parts.

The following are the parts count and items in bold are of metal.

  • 1 chest armor (blue engraving)
  • 2 shoulder
  • 2 bracer

The 'book-box' opens to reveal that it consists of two window boxes. Box Packaging

Object
Constructing the Cancer object is a simple matter. It comes with a complicated frame with a crab body, 2 claws and 4 pair of legs. The frame is separated into 2 layers whereas the upper layer holds a torso like mannequin whereas the lower layer consists of mainly legs. The mannequin lifted up to 90 degrees upward and the waist armor and front skirt armor put onto it. The chest armor is wrapped onto, securing the waist armor via 2 sets of pins (2 pin on each set). Putting the chest onto the waist armor is slightly tricky. The instruction is not clear on which part to put on first as both pieces has different pinholes position. I suggest trying out with the chest armor before putting it onto the mannequin.

When the mannequin is dressed up, the rest is a breeze. Both side skirt armor are put on as the tail with one on top another.

The claws attached to shoulders of the mannequin are moveable and so do all four pairs of its legs. The front most pair has better articulation followed by the second pair since it required wearing armor parts.

Both 2 claw detach to slot in the arm armors and bracers. Notice that the arm armor comes in 2 sizes where the bigger one goes to the big claws and the other goes to the smaller one. Both thigh armors go to the front legs and the ankle armor goes to the second pair. The armor parts join with the claw nicely into one continuous flow.

Crab lower chest fix it the extra armor piece, which is the smaller skirt armor and the chest armor. The shoulders and circlet is the last part to put on. The large extra skirt armor (longer version) is the only one piece that is not use on the object.

Figure
This is a release following the superbly articulated Pegasus Seiya Final Bronze. I am hoping that Bandai will make use of the new body but it is a small disappointment that this uses the standard PVC body. This means that the body molded in the usual flesh and purple with both plain hands and wearing a pair of golden boots. Each boots has 2 spikes jutting out at the back.

I do not want to talk about the articulation here. It is the same as in previous releases.

The head sculpt is a let down. Deathmask is an evil character and I am okay with the smirking lips but the complexion is never near the anime. Comparing to the anime, the eyes is too long and narrow and his hair should be higher and thicker. His hair molded in purple sweeping backward with a removable portion to fit in his circlet. It is funny with his hairstyle though. If his hair sweeps backward higher, Deathmask will look exactly like Vegetta from Dragonball Z.

Conclusion
I believe this item is another release from the Saint Cloth Myth series meant for collector who wish to complete their collection of Gold Saints. It has an interesting animal zodiac object with claws and moveable legs. Nothing much else.

This item is preorder online from HLJ.
