Story
The constellation of Gemini bestowed its cosmos powers to a set of twin, Saga and Kanon. While Saga is constantly trapped in a constant inner struggle between good and evil, Kanon is born with the natural instinct for evil.

Kanon and Saga is both granted with almost godly cosmos power and thus Kanon's growing ambition drives him to revealed his plan to Saga to overthrown the infant Athena and rule over the world as brothers. Gemini Saga, being a loyal Athena Saint, felt disgusted with Kanon's plan and asked Kanon to repent. The persuasion failed and Saga has no choice but to beat up Kanon and lock him up in Cape Sunion, a watery grave fit for a traitor of Athena. Saga left Kanon to die there.

Kanon was trapped for 10 days and barely survived. Refusing to give up his ambition, he search for a way out and found the concealed legendary trident of the Lord of the Seas, Poseidon. Kanon removed the weakening Seal of Athena from the Trident. Being freed, the Trident sought to returned to its owner, taking Kanon along the ride, freeing him from the watery jail.

He is later awaken at the Sanctuary of Poseidon and entered the Temple of Poseidon. He found seven Poseidon Sea General Marine Scales, each located at the high on individual pillars. Below the scale of Poseidon was a metallic jar. When Kanon places the trident next to jar and the similar weaken seal of Athena vanquish and awaken the soul of Poseidon.

Poseidon speaks to Kanon and during the conversation, Kanon seized the opportunity, impersonate as the Seadragon General in order to manipulate the army of Poseidon to fulfill his ambition.

Object
As with all Saint Cloth Myth's object, the design is base on Greek Mythology. As seen in the anime, the Marine scales designs are base loosely on the Sea Monster myth. Previously, we have Kraken with its design base on the less popular "Flying Fish Monster".

What is this Marine Scale is based on?

In mythology, the closest sea monster that ties to the word "dragon" is the snake-like Leviathan. However, the object is nowhere near the shape of a Leviathan, I think. This looks more like a Brontosaurus or the Monster of Lochness to me.

Anyway, it looks as depicted in the anime and I have no complain here.

Aside from the point to tie up this design to a Sea Monster, this Object assembled in the similar fashion as with other previous releases. You will have a base frame with some extensions for you to stack the armor pieces on. The concept works well and many times proven. The result is Marine Scale Object as close to the as-seen-in-anime you can find out there.

Assembling the Marine Scale bring no major issues. It is just that I have to be careful on the long neck since it is easily fall off whenever I applied too much force.

Figure
Although this is a bit late, you might notice that the figure is the third generation body (omitting the limited edition, Pandora's female body). This design is currently being employed in Chapter Asgard (Dubhe Siegfried) and Chapter Poseidon (Kraken Isaac) releases.

Let us do a little recap here. The "then-look-superb-but-now-look-crappy" action body employed by the Bronze Saints and Gold Saints ever since first release in year 2003 is the first generation. After 2 years, this is being followed by the super-articulated final bronze body. Let us call that the second gen.

This new body employed minor improvement over the already superb Final Bronze body. I do not know whether it is right for me to say that this is a third gen body but for discussion sake, let us assume it is (or maybe classified this as version 2.1?).

As you can compare from my photos with my previous Saint Cloth Myth, the most obvious improvement is the smaller hip. The next minor changes are the different hinges at the elbow and kneecap. This change does not affect the articulations. It simply looks nicer when you strip these guys naked.

Back to Kanon. This release includes 2 action bodies. One is the Kanon that everyone comes to hate and then love and the other is the Everyone-Know-He-Is-Kanon, “Unidentified Sea General".

Kanon figure is making use of the nicer body design and painted half naked just in case anyone want to lock him in the watery jail of Cape Sunion again. How about Kanon in his normal appearances? Have no fear. Bandai has included a nice little cute blue tunic made of fabric just to dress him up like a pretty doll in his ancient Greek costume. There are 2 plastic knee caps provided as his knee pads.

As in Gemini Saga, a second figure is included. Comparing to Gemini second figure, which painted in pure black, this "Unidentified General" is also in black but with his lower half of his face and both his arm in normal flesh. This second figure is provided with the same purpose as in Gemini that is to replicate the atmosphere of the mysterious "Sea General".

Kanon and his Seadragon Marine Scale.

Armored Figure
It is Gold. It is full body armor. I have seen this too many and it started to bored me. When compared to the Gold Saint's armor, which is purely in Gold, this Marine Scale looks slightly livelier with its dominant orange over the gold theme.

As with the Gold Saints, the full armor is restrictive and completely wasted the well-articulated body. There is not much to pose with this guy besides look good standing on the shelf.

The usual mantel and extra hands are provided.

Enter! The Unidentified General!
The General strike a pose!
Hey! It's the traitor, Kanon!
How do I look?
Behold! Golden Triangle!

Conclusion
Personally, I am somewhat disappointed with this Seadragon Kanon. I believe my expectation of Kanon is set too high; being influenced by the excellent release of Gemini Saga. At 5,500 yen, that is a difference in 500 yen cheaper than his twin brother, Bandai is not really providing much accessories.

This is not really a bad figure but a very nice Cloth Myth collection indeed. Moreover, this comes with the fabric tunic and a second body.

This item is purchased locally at Berjaya Times Square.

Hi Kah Fai, I personally like your photos and reviews on the Saint Seiya Myth Cloth series. However, I prefer a white background for all figures photos (just like all your previous figures reviews) as it looks more clearly. The black background seems didn't bring up the saint seiya magnificant armour. As for your question here, it doesn't really matters if it is a new thumbnail interface or not, cause importantly is the photo must be clear and good. By the way, the photo you had taken this time round seems a little bit too small (as compared to before). Anyway, overall, it is still a good job! Thanks.
