Introduction
"Garo
- The Fanged Wolf" is a Tokusatsu series release on
2005 in Japan and a first of its kind oriented to
mature audiences, while other mostly focused to
younger viewers (children). It has a dark atmosphere
with monsters rendered in CG and a very stylish
fighting scenes ala Matrix style.
The story revolves around the life of a Makai
(magic) Knight, Saejima Kouga, who is protecting
humanity against their own dark demonic
manifestations called "Horrors". Saejima has the
power to summon a magical armor and transforms into
GARO.
As GARO the Golden Knight, Kouga is able to using a
technique called "Blazing Armament". This is when he
uses the Madou Fire from his lighter to encompass
his sword and his armor to increase his damage
potential.
Packaging
This is the second volume of the new “Equip and
Prop” series from Bandai featuring Gold Knight Garo
in "Blazing Armament" and his second gadget,
Madoubi, a Madou Lighter.
The contents are packaged in vivid clear plastic boxes that fully display its contents. The contents are rested in 2 plastic trays and the parts are as listed below. Like SIC series, this package also roughly comes with 30% metal.
The items indicated in bold are made of metal and bold underline are partially made of metal.

There is 1 page black and white instruction sheet tapered inside the colored cardboard. It is hidden between the folded cardboard.
Figure
This is the second volume of the new “Equip and
Prop” series from Bandai and a similar but not
identical release of Gold Knight Garo comparing to
the previous Volume 1.
This release comes with Saejima Kouga in a white overcoat over his black training suit whereas in Volume 1, Kouga is just wearing his Black training suit. The head sculpt and accessories are directly brought over, so expect the same unrealistic face and a flesh tone that are too red to my liking.
The white overcoat is removable. Do not be too happy with this feature. Removing the white overcoat does not give you the black jumpsuit underneath since both his arm is molded in white. This is merely to facilitate the conversion to Garo and nothing else. The overcoat is made of soft rubber like material so it does not restrict the figure movement. As least, the figure can kneel down on one leg.
An extra sword grip right hand is provided for the figure and I have the same gripe here as in Volume 1. He comes with a very nice katana and its sheath but Bandai did not include and extra left hand to hold the sheath.

Garo in Blazing Armament
The second small upgrade in this
release is the Gold Knight Garo in
"Blazing Armament". This is where Kouga
uses his Madou Light, Madoubi to light
up his sword and armor for an instant
power-up. The figure uses the same
concept in volume 1 where Kouga's figure
is dissected and replaced by the Gold
Knight parts. This only difference here
is the Gold Knight Garo's armor comes
with additional translucent green flame
attached to the armor. The flames does
look pretty and that is all.
The articulation is more or less similar with Volume 1, a nice figure that does not kneel. Note that the mantel is missing in this release but the similar pins are provided.

What is Madoubi?
In Volume 1, we have Zaruba and this
release we have a approximately 1:1 scale of
Madoubi, the Madou Lighter.
The Madou Lighter is a gothic themed Madou Fire Lighter that resembles a demonic eye. All Madou Lighter's have a special piece of gem stone and can be revealed by removing the metal skin of the lighter. The lighter itself requires maintenance by the Makai Priests from time-to-time or it can stall (as seen with Amon working on Kouga's lighter). The Madou Lighter also requires refueling and Madou Fire is blasted into the gem stone piece for refueling by the watch dogs wolf statue. The Madou Lighter is often seen used to heal, open "Orders Document", detect Horrors, and for Garou's "Blazing Armament" technique.
This volume provide a 1:1 scale Madoubi but unlike Zaruba, it is not made of metal. The lighter casing comes with a red eye that can be closed and opened by a movable eye lid. The casing opens and the lighter can be slotted into it. This is not a real working lighter so do not expect to show off this Madoubi as a Zippo lighter in front of friends and family.

Conclusion
This is a new line from Bandai with most of the
features brought over from their SIC series. This
release might seem to be a cheap re-tool version of
Volume 1 but then without Volume 2, your Garo
collections might not seem complete.
This is item is purchased locally at Low Yat Plaza.
