Introduction
"Garo
- The Fanged Wolf" is a Tokusatsu series release on
2005 in Japan and a first of its kind oriented to
mature audiences, while other mostly focused to
younger viewers (children). It has a dark atmosphere
with monsters rendered in CG and a very stylish
fighting scenes ala Matrix style.
Suzumura Rei, a.k.a. Zero is the Silver Makai Knight of the West. He was an orphan and the knight that wielded The Silver Fang armor at that time took pity on him and raised Rei as his son. His father (the house butler) was actually an old dying Makai Knight who never had kids so Rei was trained by him to inherit his title and start his own lineage, continuing the tradition of guardianship. Though trained as a Makai Knight, Rei didn't have the tenacity or murderous intent to be a true warrior. On one fateful night, his lover Shizuka and his father were killed by a warrior who suspiciously resembled GARO. Since then he renamed himself as ZERO and has a vengeful spirit to get back the Makai Knight that took his loved ones away.
During Zero's quest for revenge he violated a host of protocols expected that of a Makai Knight. He left his eastern territory post and barged into Kouga's western post. Because he isn't sure is Kouga the same Garo that taken his family, he remains constantly uncooperative and even start fights with him to vent out his anger. Zero wields a pair of short swords which can merge into a single piece weapon for stronger hits and use as a projectile weapon. Zero's Gouten his similar to GARO's Gouten, but ZERO's horse has a blade attached to his head. Later in the series, the watchdogs of the west try to frame Kouga for his family's death, but ZERO would later discover the true killer was Kuro and ally himself with GARO. As the truth of matters unfolds he became a caring friend for Kouga because their object of vengeance is KURO/Barago.
Rei and Kouga later visited another Watch Dog where they reported and were ordered to assassinate Barago and KERBEROS. Because of Zero's tall list of violations he wasn't allowed to participate in Kouga's mission, but Kouga argued on his behalf needing his power. Rei's suspension was relinquished and joined Kouga in dealing with Barago and KERBEROS. During Kouga's dark transformation it was Zero who helped Kouga snap out of his darkness.
KERBEROS tried to stop the duo from reaching Kuro and Kaoru, but Rei decided to stay behind to deal with her, allowing Kouga to press forward. She assumed Shizuka's form and tried to trick him. He soon saw through her illusion because Shizuka addresses Rei as Ginga (only she addressed Rei that way). After a very difficult fight ZERO almost died, but survived a mortal blow because Silva took the hit. After a losing fight against KERBEROS, he took the opportunity of her over confident victory and killed her.

This is the third volume of the new “Equip and
Prop” series from Bandai. It is packaged in vivid
clear plastic boxes that fully display its contents.
The contents are rested in 2 plastic trays and the
parts are as listed below. Like SIC series, this
package also roughly comes with 30% metal.
The items indicated in bold are made of metal and bold underline are partially made of metal.

Suzumura Rei Figure
Similar to Volume 1 and 2, the head sculpt is completely out. The paint job
is not perfect with some paint run spotted. The only thing correct is the skin
tone. Zero is using a lighter and more realistic skin tone comparing to Saejima
Kouga as in the previous 2 releases. Omitting the flaw on his face sculpt, I
think Bandai did a good job in detailing the figure. The logo behind his back
and the Silva chain hanging on his neck is visibly shown in good details.
The articulation is good enough but could be better. He could forcibly kneel down but it will looks odd. Unlike the previous volume, his sleeves is molded in black thus I can still pose him in his suit after removing the black overcoat.

Silver Wolf Figure
Zero in his Silver Wolf form
looks great. It is very detailed and
the change from the Golden theme to
this Silver theme is a refreshing.
The main complain that I have on
this figure is the build quality.
Comparing to the previous releases,
the pins used on the chest in this
figure is not sturdy enough and
often pops out during play.
The twin curved blades are beautifully detailed and can be combined into a single piece. The blade is made of metal and thus leading to the next problem. The figure arm joints are simply not strong enough to hold the blades.

Who is Silva?
She is the Makai assistant to ZERO just
like Zaruba. She belongs to the former
Silver Fang (Rei's father) and serves
current one. She takes the form of a Madou
necklace of a woman wearing a mask. It was
Silva that identified the killer of Zero's
family was related to another Makai Knight.
It's unclear the true potential of Silva
since Zero never once used his blades or
techniques with Silva as Kouga does with
Zaruba. For now she's merely an advisor and
Horror detector.
The Silva included in the package is made completely of metal in a 1 to 1 scale. No chain are provided.

Conclusion
This the second main character in GARO series that
comes with a difference figure and Silver Knight.
This is a good addition to your GARO collection.
