SIC Volume 16 featuring Masked Rider Black RX and
convertible to Masked Rider Black is the very first
SIC figure I am interested in. I tried to get this
but it went out of stock on me years ago and as a
result, I bought the SIC Volume 17 Shadowmoon
instead. From volume 17 onwards, I have become a SIC
collector.
When Bandai announce a reissue about 2 years later, I immediately jump to make a preorder with a local shop at Berjaya Time Square. I brought this item home happily but this is kept in the box for almost a year. Until recently, I have the mood to dig on it.
Although, it has been 2 to 3 years since it is originally release and has countless newer releases succeeding this old buddy, I am still in awe to it. Unlike newer items that offer numerous fancy features, I believe this SIC 16 has the original soul of a SIC figure. The figure comes with a hefty 30% die-cast as body, metal feet for stability and perfect paint application and high quality sculpting.
Packaging
This package comes in the usual box with windowed
box showing off the beautifully crafted figure with
its additional parts. The figure and parts are
rested on a plastic tray secured by plastic wires
for shipping. The one page instruction sheet printed
in black and white is folded and tapered to the back
of background cardboard.

Most parts are for converting Masked Rider Black RX to Masked Rider Black form except for 2 additional fists is use by Black RX for posing.
Masked Rider Black RX
This is the basic form right out of the box. The
figure comes fully articulated with its joints well
hidden. As a usual SIC figure, the look and feel of
this Black RX is re-sculpted with bountiful of
details. The joints are tight and solid but the
armor pad still has the tendency to fall off. Both
feet are in metal, following SIC old school design
that helps the figure stability during posing.
During conversion, all four limbs are replaced with the additional limbs for Black. When I reconvert the figure back, I have a hard time figuring which is the left and right arm. I found out that the left arm is conveniently marked with a gold bracelet to differentiate the 2 arms.
The RX sword is cool. It is solid and could not be bend unlike some of the newer Ryuki’s SIC figure. I suspect there is a metal rod inside the sword.

Masked Rider Black
This is an alternate form of this figure. The
built and sculpt is identical to SIC Volume 17
Shadowmoon but employing a difference color scheme.
It has a more monster like appearance than Black RX.
There is some minor complains though about this figure. The figure comes with 2 pairs of antenna pack together in a tiny plastic bag. I have some problems determining which pair goes to which head. Moreover, the antenna easily fell off during play. I do not see such problems exist in SIC 17 Shadowmoon and it made me believe this is an initial problem.

Conclusion
This is a re-release and uses the old design
with a good amount metal composition. I found that
this has more soul in design than the newer SIC
figures that keep cutting cost by giving less metal.
The figure is beautiful and solid that deserves a
rightful place on your display shelf.
