Packaging
This is a re-release of Shin Getter Robot Black Version with nightglow from Miracle House, a subsidiary of Aoshima. The package contents come protected in Styrofoam where its parts are stored at both sides of the box (top and bottom). The box design is a bit inconvenient as I need to flip box over and the parts from the opposite side might drop from its intended location.

The following are the listing of the contents.

Top Side
  • 1 die cast figure
  • 4 extra hands (2 fist on figure, 2 hold, 2 grip)
  • 2 large axe (19 cm length)

Bottom Side

  • 3 pair of wings (2 small, 2 large narrow spread, 2 large spread wide)
  • 1 belt buckle

This package comes with instruction manual and feedback card.

Figure
The Shin Getter Black has an excellent paint job. It is colored in glossy black, gunmetal, gold and silver. There is a clear plastic part on chest that reveals inner chest details. The inner details glow in the night. Other nightglow parts are found on its axe blade, hidden belt cannon and head patterns.

The figure is very heavy hinted the amount of metal composition. If I am not mistaken, there are only 5% non-metal parts found on the figure that are as listed below.

  • Head
  • Clear Chest Part
  • Axe Blade with night glow (Handles are metal)
  • Wings
  • Extra Hands
3 sets of wings. Shin Getter hands. Large Axe. Removeable handle to fit into the hand.

Articulations
The figure has a great upper torso movement comparing to its lower. The figure small head rotates with neck moveable up and down. Its shoulder has free movement in all direction with click joints. The upper and lower arms rotate. The elbows are extensible revealing joints that rotate and bend 90 degrees. This is has to purposes. In non-extended mode, the arms look like the anime robot and whereas the extended elbows are to give the figure a much more range of movement in its axe wielding pose.

The lower torso has limited movement in overall. Both hips come with free movement in all directions although limited. Its knee rotates and bends backward at about 30 degrees. Both feet rotate with a limited 10 to 15 degree sideway.

I do not blame on the general lack of movement range on its lower torso as the figure is too heavy and delicate to pose in extreme.

Head articulation, up, down and side position.
Clear plastic chest with night glow Hidden Belt Cannon Button behind to push out the cover for belt cannon
Normal elbow. Extended elbow. Extended hand to bend while normal does not.

Pin joint for its hand.

Shin Getter night glow gimmicks.

Conclusion
In overall, this is a great die-cast figure that comes along with a solid paint job. However, there are a few qualms that I have on this item. There is no display base provided for this marvelous figure. Unlike current Bandai's SOC range of figure, there is no plugs to cover up the screws at the back of the figure.

I bought this as a bargain item from Hobby Search at 30% discount.
