The third release in Bandai's ever popular 'Soul
of Chogokin' series of Evangelion mechs is the
EVA-00 Kai (Blue). Like the previous release, it is
solid and has quite a heft to it. What makes this
chogokin piece so special is its incredible
posability. Cunningly designed to overcome
limitations of die-cast, this is truly an 'action'
figures, with joints just about everywhere, allowing
you to put your EVA into just about any pose you
might think of. Even its feet are jointed so that
you can bend them for a realistic crouch.
Beside the super-jointed robot, included in the package are a sonic glaive, progressive knife, N2 bomb, "Lance of Longinus", 3 entry plugs, and a cool base on which to display the EVA and all its accessories. Some simple construction is required to setup the figure base as explained in the color manuals.
Application of paint is better than the previous release of EVA-02 but somehow fall short to the expectation set by EVA-01. The figure is a slightly re-tooled version of Eva-02 but in a white on blue color scheme. Since this is a prototype mech, the head sculpt the simplest among the three releases, which is an oval head with a single mono-eye without any moveable mouthpiece.
This re-tooled figure of Eva-02 might not be the attraction but what make this release a solid collector item are its accessories. As usual, Eva-00 does shares some common accessories and weapons with earlier releases. However, it distinguishes from the rest by its unique weapons like a whooping 26.5 cm long ‘Spear of Longinus’, a cool sniper rifle, sonic glaive and a N2 bomb.
This item is purchased from Berjaya Time Square at a special price.
