Transformers are back to the classic! After 20 years of Transformers, I am curious to know if the newer toy design technique could do a better job than the original Generation 1 release. I bought this Optimus Prime for a test and comparing to my other Masterpiece, Energon, Cybertron and Kiss Player Optimus Prime.

I am quite surprise with the overall of this Classic Prime. The built quality does feel much better than the Energon Prime and more like the newer Cybertron series, if not better. The durability is simply solid, employing click joints, just in the Cybertron series. The details are aplenty too.

There is some minor issue with the paint job. Each unit does not come with consistency. It is clearly visible when comparing multiple units displayed on the shelves. It sometimes requires some luck in picking the best out of the bunch.

The transformation sequence does have a few ideas borrowed from the Masterpiece and it is being simplified thus less fragile on some of the transforming part.

Optimus Prime basic weapon derived from his smoke stack and his wind wane that can transform individually or be combined into as follows.

  • Smoke Stacks transforms to Laser Cannon.
  • Wind Wane transforms to Ion Blaster.
  • Smoke Stacks and Wind Wane transform to Shoulder Cannon.

This Transformers Classic series is in overall a very addictive series. It bring back the nostalgic feeling and yet with a much improved presentation with advance transformation sequence. Be prepared to dig deep into your wallet if you are into collecting Transformers.

Purchase item is purchased locally at Berjaya Timesquare.
