This is a huge disappointment! The usual Takara line of Binaltech (BT) and Binaltech-Asterisk (BTA) is made of metal and yet this new series announce as KISS Player is completely made of plastic. The series name, obviously derived from current trend of Japanese perversion toward “Lolicon” (Lolita Complex a.k.a. pedophile), is about the story of little girls powering-up Transformers by giving them kisses. This package comes with an in-scale figure of Melissa with spare hands and lower body to swap for some different poses. She is designed and sculpted by Yuki Ohshima and obviously another "designer label" scheme cook-up by Takara to slapped a higher price on this. This marketing strategy is clearly been seen as in THS-02 Convoy.

Takara also introduce a new packaging for this item. The box is quite huge designed in an odd shape and clearly a designer’s disease infected from Hasbro. I prefer the older Binaltech boxes. This box is quite huge and contains quite a lot of unused space and definitely not as collector friendly as the previous lines did.

The box comes with an Audio CD featuring 6 tracks of voice acting in some gibberish language that I think it is Japanese. The CD is completely useless to me.

Convoy is packaged in his vehicle form, Dodge RAM SRT-10, a red colored pick-up truck. Both doors, bonnet opens. The hood reveals his secret weapon, a Viper Engine, and it transforms into a hand gun that is 2 sizes too small for the big Convoy. With that design limitation, Takara includes a second secret weapon which is a pink surfboard. It transforms into a single sword or 2 smaller blades.

Although, this series does not have the novelty of metal, the paint job is similar to the Binaltech line. It comes in shinny red similarly plague with paint-chipping problem. Paint run and scratches are detected out-of-the-box and seemingly the quality control is becoming worse or at least never has improved. I might sound fuzzy but I am a lot more lenient towards the Alternator line just because Hasbro never did charge a premium like Takara did while getting away by giving me Alternator quality.

At least Convoy in robot form does not look ugly. He does look bulky and charismatic as an Autobot leader and best of all, it comes with a G1 head sculpt.

In overall, this is not a bad collectible. It is simply the mega disappointment towards the exclusion of die-cast metal from the series plus they are charging the same premium for it. Takara did try their best to compensate by including a “gachapon” figure, a second secret weapon and a useless Audio-CD. However, all these junk should not cost me the price of another Alternator! This is item is absolutely overprice so get yourself the Alternator version instead.

This item is purchase from Midvalley Megamall.
