T.H.S. is an abbreviation for Transformers Hybrid Style and THS-02 denotes the second release in this series featuring G1 Convoy (Optimus Prime in U.S.). Similar to first release, THS-01 Galaxy Convoy, it is a ultra-detail, miniature size die-cast Transformers standing at about 10 cm in robot mode.

There is a 11 months gap between THS-01 and THS-02 release. This is owing to the lukewarm response from fans. After 11 months, Takara return by employing the help of Shoji Kawamori, a notable mecha designer known for his work in The Vision of Escaflowne, Genesis of Aquarion, and the Macross series, in hope of capturing the attention of fans in the THS series.

Packaging
The packaging is similar to THS-01 Galaxy Convoy where a box with cover that opens revealing a window displaying the content in full. All sides of the box are printed with photos of the product.

The contents included are as listed below.

  • 1 G1 Convoy (robot mode)
  • 1 Autobot display base
  • 1 Display stand
  • 1 Roller
  • 1 Repair Dock (close up to form the trailer)
  • 1 rifle
  • 1 power axe
  • 1 jetpack
  • 1 fuel cable
  • 6 extra hands (2 palm, 2 fist, 1 point (R), 1 grip)
  • 1 Convoy ID card
  • 10-pages color manual

Robot Mode
The robot is partially die-cast where most of the metal resides at the lower half of the figure. It is somewhat heavy for its size. The design is very much similar to Masterpiece Convoy (MP-1) but its articulation is very much better than in MP-1. The transformation is similar but not the exact formula use in like MP-1.

This G1 Convoy comes in a basic figure but the provided accessories do value add to the figure by giving it a multiple mode.

The Jet Pack is the most obvious accessories giving Convoy flight capability. Its beam rifle comes with moveable handle, something not seem in previous Convoy figure, allowing him to hold his rifle with both hands. Furthermore, the smoke stacks and the oil drums rotate forward to form his "Gun Assault" mode.

Features brought over from Masterpiece Convoy include a removable Matrix and a clear orange Power Axe. Additional 6 hands are provided to swap for different pose.

A display base is included and it is represented in an Autobot logo in metallic red. The stand can attach to the front of the logo to display Convoy in mid flight or simply attach the stand to the back of the logo just to show the Autobot insignia.

Repair Dock
The repair dock / trailer is the crucial items for Convoy but is missing in the Masterpiece Convoy release. The trailer here plays another key value to this release. It is transformable to repair dock, trailer or a battle station.

In Repair Dock mode, Convoy can tuck in comfortably and two compartments are provided to store Convoy's extra hands. His rifle and power axe can hang on the provided slot. The dock is accompanied by a moveable turret and the roller, Convoy's mini support vehicle. Roller comes in six wheels that move and steer independently. It can be make to carry the rifle or the refueling cable.

Trailer
Convoy is transformable to a trailer and the trailer is attached and pulled by Convoy. It also comes with a parking stand. There is a hidden button on the side of the trailer that spring out the landing platform.

Conclusion
As in THS-01, this release is not meant to be a toy. It is very delicate and those with large fingers might find it difficult to play with this. Note that, the "Designer" label impose a heavy toll and does jack up the initial 3800 yen in THS-01 to 5000 yen in this THS-02.
