I do not have much transformer toys, as I am not an avid fan to the series. I have not watched Transformers Galaxy Force as of now. I came across this little black package of Convoy while loitering at a shopping complex. This Transformers Galaxy Force THS-01 "Hybrid Style" Galaxy Convoy by Takara Japan is a fully transformable, fully articulated, and loaded with die-cast metal. This toy in robot mode measure at approximately 11 cm tall and it is quite hefty for its size.

Takara also offer another bigger version, SC-01 Galaxy Convoy. I have roughly compared both versions side by side. This T.H.S. release is an exact replication from the larger version but have a higher quality and details. I decided to buy this smaller version since I am a sucker for details.

I remember, earlier days Transformers is a single transformation from vehicle to robot and vice-versa. I cannot stop being amaze how this new Convoy could transform or combine into multiple modes, which is the exact transformation and combination features from the larger SC-01 version. I am also amaze on how Takara could squeeze 1/3 of the original height of SC-01 (about 30 cm) to this THS version (11 cm).

Galaxy Convoy
This is the initial mode for convoy and packaged as-is in the box.

  • Packed with die-cast with rest of parts in either plastic or clear plastic.
  • Very detailed and good paint application. There is no paint run is spotted.
  • Fully articulated with about 50 points of articulations (in Super Mode).
  • A total 4 pairs of interchangeable hands made from soft rubber.
  • 2 fists (comes with figure)
    • 2 palm
    • 2 fingers
    • 2 grip
  • Windscreen on chest swings opens revealing a matrix, which is protected by a chest armor that folds down.
  • Convoy Wings transformable to artillery cannon.
   
       

Galaxy Convoy Super Mode
This is a bigger version of Convoy when combined with Convoy Wings.

  • Interchange normal head with provided Super Mode head.
  • Convoy Wings hooks to both side of chest.
  • Convoy Wings comes with articulated and movable Galaxy Cannon and Convoy Shot. Both come with handles that slide front and back.
  • Provided Convoy Gun is attachable to Convoy Shot
  • Force Chips activate Galaxy Cannon and Convoy Shot.
    • The chips are put onto a slot and then push the chip to the front to activate the cannons.
  • In Force Mode, Galaxy Cannon open like an alligator.
  • In Force Mode, Convoy Shot has 2 additional missile-launcher deploy on each side.
   
     
   

Vehicle Mode
This interesting vehicle mode packs many features.

  • Convoy is able to transform to trailer mode.
  • Alternatively, attach Convoy Wings to become a fire truck.
  • Fire truck spread its wings to fly mode.
  • All wheels rotate.

In fly mode, both cannon on the side have some problems with the spring. I could not get wings to be in parallel with the trailer body.
