Introduction
Trusting but dumb, Crumplezone is often drawn
into serving as the muscle to back up his paranoid
and plotting partner, Ransack. Huge, powerful and
super fast, Crumplezone is sometimes surprised by
sudden turns. Not that it matters he’s the biggest
guy on Speed Planet, crashing straight ahead
whatever gets in his way is his specialty.
Twin-turbine ramjets can propel him at nearly the
speed of sound, and selective thrust reversal allows
him to fire hypersonic, high-explosive slugs for
nearly 12 miles.
Unlock the power! The race to save Cybertron is speeding up! Change awesome three-wheeler from futuristic barrier-buster to evil Decepticon warrior and back again! He features cool electronic sounds and “high-explosive shell” launchers that really fire! When it is time for a speedy getaway, convert back to vehicle mode and use the Cyber Planet Key to flip the thrusters forward!
Comment
Hasbro marks Crumplezone as a Voyager Class toy.
This means that it is a step lower in grade than the
Ultra Class figure. This comes with lesser gimmicks,
such as flashing lights and less sound effect
compared to the Ultra Class. The sound gimmick
requires 3 LR44 watch batteries and it is included
in the package.
The package comes with a big window showing Crumplezone in vehicle mode. There are 2 missiles attached inside the box along with a Speed Planet Key, a Cyber Planet Key to activate its special feature. The Key is colored in clear red with silver rim and insignia. It also comes with an instruction sheet and a star map. The star map is just a gimmick showing its other Cybertron product. The packaging is definitely interesting and much nicer than the Japanese version.
Vehicle
Crumplezone in vehicle form is a futuristic
3-wheeler racecar. It has an interesting color
scheme, which consists of mainly florescent green,
black and flat silver. Its wheels and cockpit are
colored in clear deep blue.
The car comes with 2 large turbine ramjets. The fun part here is that when the Cyber Planet Key is inserted, both of its turbine ramjets swing forward and its aero wings swing opens, accompanied by sound effects. It is cool that all these are done is a single motion. Both ramjets have a place for slotting in a green missile. The missiles shoot out via a spring mechanism.
Robot
Crumplezone in robot form comes with irregular
proportions. He comes with a pair of thick and long
arms and short legs. At a glance, he looks more like
a gorilla than a humanoid. I do not think this is a
shortcoming but instead this really jives into the
image of Crumplezone whom supposed to be, powerful
and yet not too bright. He also comes with an
interesting head sculpt. His mouth is covered with a
jawed piece thus making more intimidating than ever.
The articulation for this figure on robot mode is superb comparing to the usual Transformers toys. He has the usual click-joints on his elbow, waist, hips and knee. Transformers robot normally does not comes with a moveable waist but this guy does. The head rotates with both knee bend and rotates.
The fun comes with the Cyber Planet Key inserted. The normal Crumplezone is carrying his double barrel missile launcher on his back. When the key is inserted, both launcher swings upwards and rested on Crumplezone shoulders accompanied by a sound effect. This pose is one of the reason I like Crumplezone.
Conclusion
This toy is bought from Parkson during Mega
Sales Carnival along with Cybertron Scourge and
Cybertron Jetfire. Frankly, I have never thought
that I will be buying this item. I thought this is
another sleeper release and only consider buying
this when I got a free cash voucher that need to be
spent on the same day. In overall, this is quite a
good toy. I am happy with it and I will like anyone
who is scouting for a Transformer to give
Crumplezone a second look.
