Introduction Packaging Its instruction manual is stored in a plastic bag tapered to the back of the inner box. I find that the instruction is somewhat inadequate. It did not explain on how to store the supporting vehicle to the trailer and the function of the 2 vehicle launchers for bay number 3 and 4. Moreover, I have to struggle to look for the attachment point between Optimus Prime and its trailer. |

Vehicle Mode
Energon Prime comes in the form of a hauler, a
vehicle often taken up by him every since G1. It
pulls a very large trailer. The trailer stores its
entire supporting vehicles and can transform to an
Operation Center. On the lower vehicle bays comes
with 2 levels where, when pushed quickly, it will
launch the vehicle out of its bay. Bay 2 is a
helipad, which fold out sideway.

The 4 supporting vehicles come with its play value as well. The following are the list of it with some description about it.
OP1 / FIRE1
This is an orange fire truck comes with wheels and a
folded ladder. The ladder can extend out. On the
vehicle’s head comes with 2 moveable turrets.
OP2 / GYRO2
It comes in the form of a white helicopter with its
blades and tail foldable. When deployed, the tail is
fold out with its blades open to form a helicopter
with some small wheels beneath.
OP3 / DRILLER3
This is a yellow driller. It has a larger wheel
below that works on friction. When the vehicle is
pushed forward, the drill rotates. Note that Hasbro
version of Energon Primes comes with a black drill
instead of silver as in Takara release.
OP4 / SUBMARINE4
This is a blue submarine with small wheels below. It
is nicely sculpted. The front comes with a claw
underneath.

Robot Mode
I guess everyone complains about the outlook of
this Energon Prime. It is chubby and short. The
articulation is adequate but nothing huh-hah about.
It uses mostly click joint and felt very solid with
it. I guess the reasoning is that since this Prime
is a combiner, it needs stronger joints to
accommodate its super size form.
It has a simple non-articulated fist with slot for its rifle. The rifle shoots out the provided missile via a spring mechanism.
This toy comes with some light and sound gimmicks. It requires 2 AAA size batteries, which is not included. The batteries are installed from the bottom of the big truck head and somewhere in between the leg. There are 2 buttons and a switch altogether. The buttons are hidden well and at first, I could not locate them without going through the manual. There is on at the back just above a switch. The switch below is marked with number 1 to 4. When the switch is place on a different number, pushing the button provides a different sound. The number is actually representing its supporting vehicle designation.
The second trigger is a light and sound button. It is located on the left armpit. Optimus Prime chest swing open on both sides revealing its combination spark in his super mode. In this pose, when the opened up left chest piece is push backward slightly, it trigger the button that gives out a flashing combination spark and a sound like deploying its combination spark to its fellow Autobots.

Super Mode
This is best part of Energon Prime, which is
combining with its supporting vehicle to for its
Super Mode. Note that each supporting vehicle is
transformable to both its arms and legs. The
standard form will be OP 1 and 2 are its arms while
3 and 4 be its leg. The second form as seem in anime
will be swapping its arms and leg position (OP 3 and
4 on top where OP 1 and 2 below). This is not all.
Since all OP vehicles are interchangeable, meaning
that arm and leg left and right able to mix around,
it really provide a lot of combination possibility.
Moreover, Energon Prime can combine with Wing Saber (sold separately) to become Wing Convoy. This easily makes Energon Prime the best investment in the entire Energon series.

Conclusion
Some might say this Optimus Prime need a good
gym work out. However, this is Optimus Prime. You
will never go wrong it. It has excellent combination
possibility and an extremely fun toy to play with.
This toy is bought from Graffiti Toys, Berjaya Times Square along with Cybertron Optimus Prime.
