1/8 Naru Narusegawa
Trying low-key style (black background). Previously I had some problems with uneven light coverage owing to
lack of lights. Plus, photos are underexposed to get the background as black as possible and this screw up
the color accuracy big time. I am using something different here and I think I am quite satisfied with this
batch of photos. The subject is well lit and the color accuracy is hitting the spot.

Replacing the old photos taken with a 2.0 MP camera at year 2004. This is a tough subject to take. The
reflective surface of metal is always prone to pick up unnecessary lights.

its huge size. It stand the tallest among my collections and this is even higher than my other
GFF Metal Composite Psycho Gundam.

It is about time to replace my older photos taken at year 2004 with a 2.0 MP camera with my current DSLR. I
am trying some new technique here and yet to perfect it. So bear with me if some of the photos looks odd.
Taking one good high key (bright white background) photo without over exposing the subject is easy. Taking a set of high key photos with consistent exposure and yet does not blow off the highlight is a pain in the ass.

iron her cloak first. This made me postponed her photo taking for 1.5 years. :-P
Some Rambling on Photography:
Photos are taken hand-held using my cheapo EF-S 18-55mm IS lens. A low key photos (back background)
uses less light and I was worried that IS won't be able to make it. I need to bump up my ISO from 200 to 400
and EV at -2.0 to -1.0 to get a shutter speed at and above 1/8s. Exposure, color and contrast aren't perfect
but that can simply adjusted in RAW.

Some Rambling on Photography:
I have upgraded my Canon EFS 18-55 kit lens to the new EFS 18-55 IS (image stabilization version).
Almost all my DSLR photos here is taken with the EFS 60mm prime lens that gives the the best image quality. However, it is painfully slow, tedious and restrictive on a tripod with a fixed focal lens. I bought this new 18-55 IS version hoping that the 4 stop image stabilization can let me hand hold my camera at the expense of losing out some image quality (hopefully not by too much).
To my surprise, the IS works and the photo for this Revoltech Rin Tohsaka is taken completely hand hold without a tripod. The second surprise with the lens is it is almost as sharp (but not quite) as my EFS 60 mm prime and at least twice as sharp as my original kit lens. I am able to get away with 1/8 shutter speed on ISO 200. This is a very minimal compromise on image quality.
This EFS 18-55 IS lens is highly recommended for its value and performance. Do not belittle this new kit lens for anyone planning on buying a EOS 40D.
