Comment
I could not help but to buy this kit, as this is one from the 08th MS Team series. I am quite
satisfied in overall because this kit has much more gimmicks and better in term of quality in
comparison to the RX-79 [G]. A good feature to note is that the beam saber is molded in transparent
red.
The proportion is well done in overall and I have no complain here. The body structure design is shared by two other kits, which are the GM sniper and RX-79 [G]. In my earlier write up, I mentioned that the RX-79 [G]’s leg proportion failed to suit my taste, as it is too thin. I guess the design is not meant for RX-79 [G] but designed for this kit and Bandai is doing a cheap job in forcing the RGM design onto the RX-79.
Sanding and puttying is necessary but kept to a minimal level. Colors are molded correctly thus painting is optional.
Articulation is good enough for a HG but I am expecting a better degree of movement. This kit failed to crouch. The joints are tight enough for the large weapons that come with this kit.

Construction Note
For a start, the standard HG construction technique is done over here (Glue, sand, putty and
then sand). Assembly is done in 3 phases. Assemble the knee piece first and then the torso, the head
and the arms. The leg and shoulder armor come last since it required the other parts to be painted
first. The knee piece that joint the upper and lower leg is painted with dark gray, clear coated and
then masked.

Stuffing some blue tack to the feet will increase the model lower weight thus increase stability |
Painting is done using an airbrush. This is my first attempt to paint a whole model using an airbrush and also my first attempt at pre-shading (Max Technique). I made a brave attempt and took a risk here but then I think I did a pretty good job. (I did some extensive study on Max Technique before attempting to do so.)

Painting started with a coat of dark gray the airbrush the dessert yellow on. This provides some gradation the armor. |
For the parts that are sand brown, those are prime with dark gray and then sprayed with a custom mixed paint (Desert Yellow : White, 3 : 4). In Max Technique, this is called the starter black but the result is somehow appeared to be darker than expected. I made a screw up here, so I switch to Starter White for the orange parts. I sprayed dark gray and then sprayed flat white for armor highlight. The final base coat is sprayed with clear orange mixed with gloss orange (1 : 1). All the guns are sprayed with dark gray.

| Test fit, glue, sand and mask for the next round of painting | The painted area is masked. Notice that I am using blue tack here because I am lazy cutting masking tape |

| The orange part is highlight with white on dark fray. Clear Orange is misted on top. | The effect is a stronger gradation |
For the final touches, a flat coat (clear : flat base, 7 : 3) is sprayed on the completed model to flatten the gloss level. Panel is then done with oil paint (mix of black and burn umber).

In Brief
An excellent kit from the 08th MS Team series that loaded with gimmicks. A must buy for 08th MS
Team fans to make the collection whole, otherwise go for the more expensive version, the GM sniper.
