My very first impression on "Turn-A"
Gundam is that the design sucked. It looks like a white guy with big moustache and an
erected penis.
(Take a look at the picture and use some imagination). Well, this kit is cheaper than
the standard 1/144 HG kit so I went on ahead and bought this kit for practice.
The funny thing is that the more I look at it, the less I reject it. Do not get me wrong. I still dislike the design but after watching the Turn-A DVDs, I started to change my way of looking at it. Turn-A Gundam is not the conventional "Big Bad Super-Duper War Machine" but it represent some sort of symbol of peace, I think. It is hilarious to see how the main pilot, Loran Cehack, abuse the use of Turn-A Gundam by doing odd jobs such as mining, doing laundry and a temporary land bridge.
The proportion is well done. The range of movement for the four limbs is quite generous however the leg movement is slightly limited by the skirt armor. The only complain here is that the chest and torso connection is somewhat unrealistic. It looks like a hollow chest lying on top of a red tin can.
Panel lines is a plenty and nicely done on this kit. Too bad most of the lines are at the back so it is not really visible when you put the completed model on your shelf.
I found that the quality of plastic is quite good for an un-graded kit. The color of white is molded in the correct shade. The shield is molded in white only while the feet is molded entirely in red, so some painting is required if you want an anime accurate model.

Construction Note
This is an un-graded kit, so sanding is necessary. The snap fit is good but horrible
steps occurs when you joint 2 part together especially on the limbs. To save time, I use a
craft knife to scrape off the steps and then sanded to perfection. (Just don't overdo it)
Painting is a challenge for this kit especially on the face and the shield. I have to mask the feet and the shield to paint multiple colors on those parts.
Paneling is done by washing it with gray acrylic paint.
Color Use: Gloss Red, White, Blue, Yellow, Orange

| Runners and manual. | Feet has the wrong color. Bottom half is painted with red. | Top half is later painted white. |

| Painted with gray and flat white. | Flat white hard to paint. | Almost done... |
Lesson Learned
- The experience of hand brushing flat white is a painful.
- Acrylic wash is not the solution I am looking for panel lining.
- Masking is tedious and not necessary when hand brushing. I just need a steady hand.
In brief
Beside the ugly design, this kit is a good value buy. The plastic quality is as good as
any HG minus the price. I will recommend this to beginner for practice as sanding and
masking is required on this kit. Not to mention on learning how to paint white.
