2 Core Block provided. One is the transformed Core Fighter and the other is a more detail block. I am not painting the other block because of slotting the block in and out of Gundam might cause paint chip. |

The male connectors are cut in that way so that the armor parts are easier to detach for painting. |
I am spraying 2 layers of paint for the slightly yellow Gundam white. The parts on top is an example of the base coat. The leg armor below is an example after flat white is highlighted and misted on top. |

Thinning the male connector makes the armor parts able to be taken off easily. Now I can take out the parts and photograph the internal details without afraid of paint chipping. |

Construction Note
Bought this at a local store at Sungai Wang at a discounted price. I am a Gundam modeler and yet
I did not have a RX-78, which is a shame. There are many Gundam out there and out of the many
variation of RX-78, I personally prefer this Version Ka as it comes with tons of decals and a
touched-up design.
This Gundam Version Ka comes with tons of interesting sticker. Knowing that, I plan to do a non-weathered clean mech and I will like to paint it in a very soft and pastel like color.
I begin my work with full assembly, combining the parts together. Master Grade kit has very good connectors that once snap-in; it is extremely hard to take apart without damaging the plastic. In order to counter this problem, I thin almost all male connectors by nipping it by slanted downwards. This way, the parts are now easier to take off.
This is a newer kit with very good precision and flash excess is not that obvious. I need to do a full assembly and then identify those pesky flash excess spot. Those flashes are then removed by cutting and light sanding.
The internal skeleton and its weapons are from an ABS plastic runner. The plastic is extremely hard and there are many odd angles. These are tackled using a sanding sponge bought from a hardware shop. The sponge work like a miracle sanding those seam line and flash away. It the then fine sand using 1200 grit sandpapers.
The step to painting this kit is slightly irregular where this is painted from outside to inside.
For the first painting batch, I detach all yellow and red parts. The yellow parts are sprayed with orange yellow as base and highlight with a little bit of yellow.
Red parts are done using red straight from the bottle as base and highlight using red mix with white. The mixed paint has not reach to the point of pink but to a whitish red instead. Some flat base is mix into the paint to get a flat color.
Next are the blue parts. It is painted using dark blue as base and highlight with a mixture of blue and white. The outcome is ugly as the contrast is too high so I spray on another layer of Cyanine Blue mix with Clear to tone down the gradation.
The limbs and most of the armor parts are in some beige white color. In order to get a gradation on that color, I painted a mixture of my leftover flesh tone from my previous resin kit with lots of flat white. It is then highlight with flat white.
The last paint job is on the internal skeleton and weapons. They are painted with gray mix with a few drop of blue to get a bluish gray color. The color is similar to the Gundam Fix gray. The sniper scope is painted using Tamiya Acrylic Clear Yellow.
I decided not to do any panel lining on this kit.
Lastly are the decals. Only dry transfer decals are applied and I left out the wet transfer decals.
